The Corporate Affairs Commission, CAC, of Nigeria today held a one day customer stakeholders forum in Enugu. Held with the core purpose of bridging the gap between the commission and its various stakeholders for effective delivery of its functions, CAS also used the medium to highlight the changes introduced during the amended Companies and Allied Matters Act, CAMA, 2020 assigned by president Muhammadu Buhari.

Giving his key note address, the Registrar General and CEO of CAS, Garba Abubakar representedby the director of compliance, Abdulhareem Mohammed said, on the third of January, companies registrations portal was upgraded for the implementation of CAMA 2020.  According to him, on August 31st the commission deployed registration of limited partnership and limited liability partnership.

He further mentioned that, CAMA 2020 produced numerous features which includes, provision for electronic signature, one man company registration for private company, minimal capital for private and public company which has been upgraded under the new law among other implementation which inculcates programmes for lawyers.

While also noting that, the commission has made provision for amalgamated incorporated constituency who have similar objective to merge, the Registrar General said customers are advised to regularly check its website for update and information.   

Companies and Allied Matters Act is one of the critical pieces of legislation which enhances better business climate and promotes Micro, Small and Medium Scale Enterprises. Meanwhile, the forum was concluded with a panel discussion on the commission, had avenue for feedback from various stakeholders and responses from CAS on the issues outlined.
