NIGERIA LABOUR CONGRESS INTENSIFIES MOBILISATION FOR PROTESTS OVER FUEL SUBSIDY REMOVAL

The Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, has intensified consultations ahead of its Thursday nationwide rallies against the proposed removal of petroleum products subsidy. NLC Deputy President, Joe Ajaero, told newsmen today that letters has been sent to heads of the over 50 affiliates and state councils of the Congress, asking them to host strategic meetings on how to make the rallies successful.

He also hinted that leaders of Civil Society Organizations in support of the protests had been briefed on the planned activities for the day. But the Federal Government on Sunday night faulted the planned rallies because it was yet to take a final decision on1 subsidy. It would be recalled that the National Economic Council chaired by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo had recommended an increase in the pump price of fuel from 162 to 302 naira per litre.
