NIGERIA ATHLETE TOBI AMUSAN HOPES TO RETAIN DIAMOND LEAGUE TROPHY IN ZURICH

Nigeria’s biggest athlete of the moment, Tobi Amusan, believes she is in prime position to continue her winning streak in Zurich on Thursday. The World and Commonwealth Games 100 metres hurdles champion and record holder says she is looking forward to recreating the scenario that fetched her the historic Diamond League trophy in Zurich, last year. Amusan made history as the first Nigerian athlete to win a Diamond League discipline when she stormed home first in a then 12.42 seconds African record at the final in Zurich.

The event led to a chain of firsts for the Nigerian, as she became the first from her country to win a world title, the first to set a world record, the first to successfully defend a Commonwealth Games title, and the first to set a Games record in the high hurdles. The Nigerian was in action at the ISTAF Berlin meeting on Sunday and won the race in 12.45 seconds. The reigning Nigeria, African, Commonwealth and World 100m hurdles champion took to her Facebook page after the event to express her gratitude to God for winning for the third straight visit to Berlin.
