INSPECTOR GENERAL OF POLICE STRESS THE NEED FOR COMMUNITY POLICING, COMMISSIONS ULTRA-MODERN POLICE STATION IN INYI

Seeking ways to enthrone a better police system which will Guarantee the protection of lives and safety of Nigerians, the inspector General of Police, Usman Baba has emphasized the need for community policing, insisting that better policing must be done by indigenes of a place. He stated this yesterday at the commissioning of an ultra-modern police station at Inyi in Oji River local government area of Enugu state. Tasking the people of Inyi to own and safeguard the structure built to improve the working environment of the police as well as ensuring that the new station is not abused, the IG reiterated the commitment of the force towards ensuring the protection of lives and properties.

On his part, the commissioner of police, Ahmed Ammani, assured that the station and all the human resources provided within, will be guarded jealously and protected from criminal elements. Also, in his welcome address, the Enugu state governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, represented by the Secretary to the state government, Simon Ortuanya, stated that the ultra-modern police station reinforces the determination and collaboration of both the federal and state government in eliminating criminal elements from the state.
