DEFENSE HEADQUARTERS WARNS POLITICIANS AGAINST WEARING MILITARY UNIFORM FOR CAMPAIGNS
Similarly, the Defence Headquarters said it has noticed with dismay the habit of wearing military uniforms by some politicians for electioneering campaign posters. In a statement by the Acting Director Defence Information, Wap Maigida, the Headquarters said campaign posters of some Governors dressed in military camouflage uniforms are displayed in their respective States.
The Acting Director Defence Information noted that such practice is illegal and an abuse of the privilege of allowing civilians wear military uniforms during military training exercises. He said, the Armed Forces of Nigeria as a professional institution, remains apolitical and would not want to be dragged into any form of political bias.
