Nigerian Afrobeats superstar, Davido, has joined the ranks of global music professionals shaping the future of the GRAMMY Awards. The Recording Academy has confirmed his induction as a new voting member, making him eligible to participate in both the nomination and final-voting processes for the 2026 GRAMMYs.
With this milestone, Davido is not only broadening his influence in the international music scene but also helping strengthening African representation within one of the world’s most prestigious music institutions. The Academy also revealed that voting for the 2026 edition will officially begin on October 3, 2025, urging new members to “review the ballot, listen, and vote early.”
As a voting member, Davido joins a select group of industry professionals which includes artists, producers, engineers, and other music creators who directly shape the outcome of the GRAMMYs. Membership is offered to individuals with a proven track record of professional achievement, and Davido’s consistent global success made him a strong candidate.
The development also highlights the Recording Academy’s ongoing push to diversify its membership base, reflecting the growing global influence of Afrobeats and African music at large.
