The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Umar
Damagum, is insisting there is no going back on the party’s national
convention, billed for November in Ibadan, Oyo State.
Damagum spoke on Tuesday during the inauguration of the 110-
member National Convention Organizing Committee in Abuja.
The convention committee is led by the Governor of Adamawa State,
Ahmadu Fintiri, while that of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, will work
as the vice chairman.
Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State was picked as the convention
committee secretary.
In his charge to the group, Damagun expressed confidence in its ability
to deliver on the mandate of organising a seamless event.
The PDP National Chairman enjoined them to set aside personal
grievances and ambitions that do not serve the collective interest..
He urged them to focus on the bigger picture: building public trust by
proving to Nigerians through the convention that the PDP remains the
vanguard of democracy and the blueprint for due process.
The inauguration, which was held at the NEC Hall of the PDP National
Secretariat, Wadata Plaza, followed the approval of the National
Executive Committee.
Nigeria’s main opposition party will hold the convention from November
15–16, 2025, in the South-Western state of Oyo.
