The Methodist Church Nigeria, Enugu Diocese has prayed for the victory of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP gubernatorial candidate, Peter Ndubuisi Mbah and the successful conduct of the 2023 general elections.
The church made this known on Tuesday during a one day special prayer and service for Peter Mbah at the Wesley Cathedral Uwani Enugu.
In a sermon during the service the Archbishop of the Diocese, Most Reverend Christopher Edeh who took his reading from the book of Romans chapter thirteen verse one to seven titled his message Act a very vital state in the journey ahead.
The clergyman while buttressing his point hinted that when the righteous is on the throne that the people rejoices and stressed the need for the church to rise up and pray for their leaders.
He also called on the church to always ensure they exercise their civic responsibility in ensuring that righteous leaders are enthroned in the seat of power.
On his part, an elder in the church who spoke on behalf of the congregation, Chuks Nnamegbo noted that as a way of exercising their political rights had resolved to be partisan in the forthe coming general election and take side with the PDP governorship candidate following his antecedents in the private sector and the state.
Responding, the PDP gubernatorial candidate, Peter Ndubuisi Mbah who noted that the importance of the day cannot be overemphasized reiterated his determination to end poverty in the state by creating massive job opportunities for the teeming youths, women and the masses at large.
While accessing the situations in the country, Mbah pledged to deliver people focused leadership as well as deliver quality and robust governance.
The service was attended by all district and circuit heads, reverends of all Methodist church in Enugu state.
