Religious leaders in Enugu State have expressed faith and optimism that the people’s Democratic Party, PDP gubernatorial candidate Peter Mbah will provide more dividends of democracy to the people of the state following his antecedence in the private sector.Speaking during an interactive session with catholic bishops in Enugu on Tuesday, at the the Bishop’s court Agwu, His Lordship, Most Rev John Okoye, noted that haven gone through Dr. Mbah ‘s manifesto, that they are convinced he has good intentions for the state. The clergyman who outlined some of Peter Mbahs achievements to include feeding the poor, building state-of-the-art hospital, engendering development and touching lives with his personal resources among others called on the philanthropist not to stop his good deeds if he becomes Governor of the state.On his part, Fr. Leo Ilechukwu who is also a priest in the state while commending Peter Mbah for the time also lauded him for his blueprint which he noted that indeed explains his mantra of Tomorrow is here as they believe that he will replicate what he did in Pinnacle Oil in the state thereby making the state the hub of investment.Earlier in a remark, the PDP gubernatorial candidate, Peter Mbah outlined some of his strategies for addressing the challenges facing the state, and assured of his administrations determination to build the state’s Gross Domestic Product, GDP, from the present $4.4 billion to $30 billion by moving the state from a public sector driven economy to a private sector driven economy. He reiterated that infrastructure and security of lives and property remains paramount in his manifesto, stressing that it is only when there is security that investors will be attracted to the state to establish their businesses and industries.Peter Mbah however pledged his resolve to exploit the dormant resources in the state to create more jobs for the citizens by turning them to productive assets that would engage the youths and make them useful to the society.On the possibility of creating over four hundred thousand jobs in each senatorial zone in the state through the agriculture sector, Mbah maintained that the hideouts of criminals in the state will be cleared and designated as special economic zones for commercial farming and reiterated his plans to achieve a zero percent hunger in the state within 8 years of of his administration. The event which featured questions and answers segment however had in attendance all clergymen from far and wide the state.
