World leaders have reacted swiftly to Russian president Vladimir Putin’s decision to recognise the two self proclaimed republic’s in eastern Ukraine. They described the move as a clear breach of agreement while calling for sanctions.
Meanwhile the United States secretary of state Anthony Blinken tweeted that Putin’s decision requires a swift and firm response which united srates will take appropriate steps in coordination with partners”.
In addition the United States announced financial sanctions against the rebel territories freshly recognized by Russia in eastern Ukraine and warned that more were ready if necessary. French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and US President Joe Biden all agreed that Russian step will not go unanswered.
