15 kidnapped persons escape bandits’ den in Sokoto State

No fewer than fifteen people kidnapped by bandits in Sokoto State have escaped from the custody of their abductors, reports say on Monday. One of them, said to be a technical official working with a firm managing telecommunications mast in Isa Local Government Area, LGA of the state, was abducted two weeks ago.

Narrating his escape, the victim said he tricked one of the kidnappers who was asked to guard him that he wanted to ease himself while the other members of the gang had gone in search of other victims to be kidnapped. The chairman of Isa LGA, Abubakar Yusuf, also confirmed the escape of fourteen other abducted people to reporters, saying the victims are receiving medical attention in a medical facility in the town.

In a related development, report reaching us says about thirty suspected kidnappers and criminals have been arrested in Imo state. The criminals were arrested during a Monday raid, by a joint security team, on camps in Orlu local government and Uli community in Ihiala local government area of Anambra state.

A traditional ruler who was kidnapped in Okigwe local government area on Sunday, Acho Ndukwe of Ihube autonomous community, was also released during the raid. More details on the report would be brought in our subsequent bulletin.
