The Enugu State government has announced the temporary closure of
Abakpa Nike Road, specifically at the Last Bus Stop location.
A statement by the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure on Wednesday
said the closure is due to the essential construction of a box culvert at
the said location as part of the ongoing dualisation project.
According to the statement, the closure will commence at 12 midnight of
Thursday, 2nd October 2025, and is expected to last for three weeks.
It explained that the closure will allow the contractor complete the culvert
construction effectively and safely, and within the specified timeframe.
The Ministry urged road users to use alternative routes such as Obinagu
Road, Texaco – Nowas Junction – T-Junction, Liberty – Edward Nnaji
Street – Ugwunwani Street – Corner Stone – T-Junction, Liberty –
Edward Nnaji Street – Ogwuago – Harmony road – Nkwo Nike Junction
to navigate around the construction area.
While apologising for any inconvenience this may cause, it pleaded with
the general public and Abakpa residents to bear with the State
Government effort to improve road infrastructure.
