The Chairman, National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools, NAPPS, Enugu State Chapter, Ernest Ugwu has gifted one Ikenna Collins Ezeagbo, a cash reward of 1.08 million naira.

Ezeagbo, a native of Opi, in Nsukka Local Government Area of the state, had rejected a Special Assistant appointment from the State Governor,  Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, citing failures of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, led administration in the state to fulfill its promise to his community, since 2018. Ugwu, who handed the cheque to Ezeagbo over the weekend, during NAPPS annual teachers summit, said the idea behind the reward is geared towards seeing the youths take the lead, especially in governance. With the courage shown by Ezeagbo, Ugwu empowered him with the said amount being the cumulation of his supposed salary as Special Assistant to Enugu State governor for the remaining six months of this present tenure.

Ugwu, a Labour Party’s Senatorial Candidate, Enugu North senatorial district, insisted empowerment should be about the establishment and well being of citizens, and not to put them in slavery. In his reaction, Ezeagbo, who is the President General, Opi Youths Movement, said he declined the appointment in protest against denial of infrastructural facilities to his community, especially construction and asphalting of Opi Agu Road, and abandoning his people by the administration of Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi throughout his tenure.
