The Catholic bishop of Enugu Diocese, Most Reverend Callistus Onaga, has advocated the need for Nigerians to join hands in creating peaceful atmosphere in the country. The bishop argued that it is only in peaceful atmosphere that the country can make any meaningful progress in its political, social and economic life.
Bishop Onaga, who made this known while delivering his Christmas message in Enugu, asked Christians to emulate Jesus Christ, regarded as the prince of peace, by promoting peace and love in their neighbourhoods. He however lamented that the Christmas celebration is coming at a time when the nation is facing many challenges ranging from acute shortage of food, galloping inflation, bandit and unknown gunmen attacks.
While urging individuals to assist the less privilege ones around them to enable them share in the season, the Catholic Prelate appealed to those cursing unrest in the nation to give peace a chance in this festival celebration.
