The Super Eagles have seen a drop in the latest FIFA men’s rankings, which were published on Thursday morning.

The three-time African champions have fallen eight spots, moving from 30th to 38th in the global standings.

This decline follows a 1-1 draw against South Africa’s Bafana Bafana in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, and a 2-1 loss to the Benin Republic in a match played in Ivory Coast, both impacting their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign.

Nigeria also dropped to fifth place in the African rankings, trailing behind Morocco, Senegal, Egypt, and Cote d’Ivoire.

On the global stage, Argentina maintains the top position, followed by France, Belgium, Brazil, and England in the top five.

Meanwhile, the Lone Stars of Liberia made a significant leap, climbing 10 spots to reach their highest-ever rank of 142nd, with an impressive gain of 37.47 points.

Conversely, Equatorial Guinea experienced the most significant drop, falling 10 positions and losing 47.53 points.

San Marino remains at the bottom of the 210-team ranking, with Eritrea being the only unranked nation.
