Six people have been killed and dozens more said to be trapped after an unfinished building collapsed in south-west Iran, reports say. The Iranian Red Crescent said rescue teams had pulled thirty-two survivors from the rubble of the 10-storey Metropol office block in Abadan. Officials said the cause of the collapse was being investigated.
Meanwhile, local prosecutor Hamid Maranipour said both the Metropol’s owner and the building contractor had been arrested. According to report, the Iranian Red Crescent said seventeen rescue teams from Abadan and neighbouring cities rushed to the scene along with more than a dozen ambulances.
