The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, announced on Monday that there is no longer a need for the planned protest, as the government is addressing the concerns raised by Nigerians. Speaking to State House Correspondents after the Federal Executive Council meeting, Idris stated that the administration of President Bola Tinubu is making significant efforts to meet the demands of the aggrieved populace.
“Many of the issues that those planning the protest are putting forward are being addressed. The government is working hard to ensure food availability,” Idris said. “Rice has been distributed to various centers across the country and is being sold for ₦40,000. This is just the beginning and a necessary first step. Additional measures are in progress.”
Idris highlighted the substantial investments being made in the agricultural sector, expressing confidence that food prices will decrease as these initiatives take effect.
The Minister also emphasized that the President is committed to addressing the concerns of the youth. “The student loan initiative ensures that no youth who wishes to pursue education is left behind. Once the Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) program is fully implemented, transportation issues will also be resolved,” he added.
