President Bola Tinubu is set to embark on a significant international trip, following his recent return from France. According to Naija News, Tinubu’s next destination is China, where he will participate in the 2024 Forum on China–Africa Cooperation in the first week of September.

The Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, revealed the details of the visit during a press briefing at the Presidential Villa on Tuesday. Ngelale highlighted that the trip aligns with the current administration’s strategy to improve the welfare of Nigerians.

During the visit, President Tinubu is expected to meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping and sign several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs). The agenda includes discussions with major Chinese firms such as Huawei and the China Railway Construction Corporation (CRCC). These meetings are aimed at accelerating the development of the Ibadan to Abuja segment of the Lagos to Kano rail project.

In addition, President Tinubu will engage with the CEOs of ten prominent Chinese corporations that collectively oversee over $3 trillion in assets across various industries, including ICT, oil and gas, aluminum manufacturing, port development, finance, and satellite technology. This visit is anticipated to strengthen bilateral relations and foster economic cooperation between Nigeria and China.
