Nigeria’s minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus
Keyamo, has announced that aviation workers have suspended the plan to
shut down the country’s aviation sector from Monday.
Keyamo disclosed this in a statement on his account on Sunday.
His comment comes as workers unions, the National Union of Air Transport
Employees, the Air Transport Services Senior Staff Association of Nigeria,
the Association of Nigeria Aviation Professionals, and others issued a joint
statement announcing a planned withdrawal of service to demand
improved remuneration.
However, in an update on the planned shutdown, Keyamo said the unions,
in a joint statement, had agreed to suspend the action to engage the
government.
The minister said he will work with the unions to resolve all their demands
one after the other.
