The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission of the Lagos state command has arraigned one Ishaq Abubakar before the Federal High Court in Ikoyi, on 11 counts bordering on cybercrimes. This was revealed in a statement by the EFCC spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren, who stated that Abubakar was arraigned on Wednesday, after been arrested by officers of the Nigeria Customs Service on August 22, 2020.
He was arrested at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, on his way to Dubai with 2,863 Automated Teller Machine ATM cards and four SIM cards carefully concealed in packs of noodles. Uwujaren, said investigation revealed that 10 of the 2,863 ATM cards were stolen, as the owners had confirmed losing the cards which were found in his possession.
He was handed over to the EFCC on September 10, 2020, by the Deputy Comptroller, Enforcement, Abudulmumuni Bako. Bako said the suspect claimed to have come in from Kano enroute Dubai Emirate evacuation flight. He was seen with someone who was assigned to facilitate his movement through the airport checks which raised suspicion, as officers on duty insisted that he should be thoroughly checked after the scan machine revealed he was carrying packs of noodles.
