The Chairman Board of Trustee of the Life in my City Art Festival (LIMCAF) Elder Kalu U. Kalu said the organisation is determined to provide platform for young artists in the country to excel in their chosen career.
Kalu stated this on Saturday night during the 2021 Grand Finale Exhibition of LIMCAF in Enugu.
He said the annual art exhibition has helped to groom many young artists into renowned professionals making wave with their art works across the globe.
The LIMCAF Board Chairman noted that many artists were restricted from participating in the 2021 Art Festival because of Covid-19 pandemic but expressed satisfaction with the works exhibited.
On his part, the LIMCAF Patron and Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Nnaemeka Achebe, regretted that Covid-19 has affected the patronage of the Art Festival, as 2020 edition was suspended because of the pandemic.
Igwe Achebe however encouraged the young artists to see the pandemic as a great opportunity to be innovative and adaptive in their art works, in order to flow with the reality of time.
One of the leading partner of the Art Festival, Uche Onuorah, disclose that he partnered with LIMCAF in order to promote the works of young and upcoming artists in Nigeria.
Onuorah expressed his commitment to provide one year online training for best selected ten artists to help them digitalise their works
In an interview, the overall winner of the Festival, Chichetam Okolonta, expressed gratitude LIMCAF for the opportunity to participate in the art exhibition, which he dreamt of winning the exhibition as a first timer.
The highpoint of the event was presentation of #250,000 cheque to five LIMCAF artists as well as #500, 000 cheque to the overall winner, in addition to other endowment awards.
