Social network, Parler said American rapper, Kanye West, had announced his intention to buy the platform, which has gained popularity among United States conservatives. Parler’s executive director, George Farmer, said the deal will change the way the world thinks about free speech. The deal’s value, expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2022, was not disclosed.
This may not be unconnected to the situation which earlier this monthwitnessed Instagram and Twitter restricting West’s accounts over posts slammed as anti-Semitic. Launched in 2018, Parler became a haven for supporters of former US president Donald Trump and far-right users who say they have been censored by other social media platforms such as Twitter.
