The executive secretary Enugu State primary health care development agency ENS-PHCDA, George Ugwu has commended Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi’s led administration for his giant strides aimed at alleviating poverty and boosting the living standard of the masses.

Dr. George Ugwu made this known on Wednesday during a press briefing and sensitization meeting of stakeholders and partners on the mass polio immunization held in the agency’s office.

According to Dr. Ugwu, the feat achieved so far in the agency could not be have been possible if not for the support of Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi.

On the target population for the polio vaccine exercise, the

ENSPHCDA Dr. George Ugwu said they are targeting children between the ages of zero to five years.

He however called on parents, caregivers, and guardians to ensure their children/wards get vaccinated in a bid to ensure Enugu State and the country at large continues to record no case of polio.

To this end, Dr Ugwu asserted that the agency has properly trained no fewer than two thousand team members for the exercise adding that the team members will be visiting homes, mosques, schools, Markets, churches among others for the exercise.

The executive secretary Enugu State primary health care development agency, George Ugwu also stressed the need for all hands to be on deck and ensure the prevention line is towed which he added is better than cure.

Further contributing, the director community health services, Fabian Nebo noted that the importance of the immunization against polio cannot be over emphasized.

Meanwhile, in their separate remarks, religious leaders at the event such as venerable Jonathan Agbo, Secretary Christian Association of Nigeria South East Zone, and his counterparts representing the Chief Imam, Enugu State central mosque also the Hausa and Yoruba Muslim community, Alhaji Abdulrazeez Adebayo among others, while extolling Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi’s developmental strides aimed at giving the state a facelift pledged their determination to ensure the information is properly disseminated in order to ensure the vaccine gets to the target population.

The event however had stakeholders from various ministries, departments and parastatals in attendance.
