The Federal Government has ruled out the possibility of restricting foreign travelers from visiting Nigeria, despite travel bans on the country by Canada, United Kingdom, Indonesia, Singapore and Hong Kong. This is just as the government stated that most of the in-bound passengers that tested positive for Covid-19 were from the United Kingdom.
Minister of Health, Osagie Ehanire, stated on Sunday while interacting with news in Abuja. Ehanire described as unfortunate the reaction of some countries to the Omicron strain, noting that even the World Health Organization had said that countries should focus more on collaboration rather than shutting borders. It would be recalled that UK on Saturday night announced that it will from today Monday, restrict all flights coming from Nigeria and also suspended all pending visa applications due to the Omicron variant.
