The Deputy Inspector-General, DIG, of Police in charge of the Force Criminal Investigations Department, FCID, Joseph Egbunike is dead. Egbunike was in charge of the highest investigating arm of the Nigeria Police Force until his death. According to reports, he on Tuesday night after he was rushed to a hospital in Abuja due to a brief illness. The DIG was due to retire from the service in the next two months He investigated suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police, DCP, Abba Kyari, in late 2021, but did not indict him. Before his death, he had served in various commands in the force.
