As Christmas draws closer, Nigerians have been asked to extend hands of love as well as show empathy to the downtrodden, to enable them share in the joy of the season. The Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, in Enugu State, Reverend Emmanuel Edeh, made this appeal on Monday in Enugu in a statement to mark the Christmas celebration. Edeh enjoined the privileged ones not to shy away from assisting the downtrodden in the society, especially during this season, as the assistance will go a long way in putting smiles on their faces.
The CAN chairman challenged religious leaders to go beyond preaching and practice act of charity, noting that many people do not know where their meals will come from. According to him, the worsening insecurity situation coupled with the economic challenges in the nation have made it difficult for many people not to provide for themselves, let alone having a hope of celebrating the season.
